Alpha Gamma Delta's Biennial Convention was held in Tarpon Springs Florida at the beautiful Innisbrook-Hilton Resort from June 28th to July 2nd, 1997. Fun was had by all, particularly by Dana French, Zeta Chi delegate and Nicole Piscione, Zeta Chi's alumnae delegate. Chantal Coulen, an alumna from Zeta Chi, and Florida resident, also attended.
![]() Zeta Chi won several Awards
and Honor Rolls, but most importantly, won two special awards for
which the chapter was presented with silverware! The Rush Award
goes to the chapter that demonstrates a successful Rush program and
New Member program. Zeta Chi is honoured to receive this award. Rush
is always a favourite time of year for the ladies at 290 Huron and it
is wonderful to have a silver platter over the mantle to show our visitors.
An even greater honour was to receive the coveted International Council Recognition Award. Our delegate, 1997-98 President Dana French, graciously accepted the awards on behalf of the Chapter and was photographed with Ruth Breitenstein Henritze, former International Council president.
As at Convention 1995, Canada Day fell
on a day when Alpha Gams were gathered for business. Delegates from
Canadian Alpha Gam chapters, as well as those Canadian sisters attending
American colleges, led the business session on July 1 with the singing
of the Canadian National Anthem. This final day of Convention ended
with the memorable Feast of Roses Banquet.(l to r: Dana, Nicole, Carmen
Coursey - GS President '97.)
The Zeta Chis attending Convention celebrated Feast of Roses with the Delegates from Gamma Sigma Chapter at Troy State University. Fun was had by all! A beautiful Living Circle was held after dinner, led by Dee Dee! (l to r: Chantal, Christie Sheffield - GS President '98 and Carrie Ellis, also Theta Sigma.) |
